Singing in the shower๐Ÿ›€๐Ÿšฟ๐ŸŽถ

Does this video bring back memories for you?ย  I can remember hearing it over and over in the 1970s/80s when our children were young and as I couldn’t find a song about singing in the shower I thought I’d let Ernie sing about bath time with his rubber ducky.

Why did I want a song about singing in the shower?ย  Well, I’ve just finished this …
a back scrubber for the shower.ย  This is a pattern from Red Heart and they use their own yarn called Scrubby.ย  I can’t get that here in Western Australia, but I did find a substitute at Knit Purl Yarn Boutique called Wendy Wash Knit (for pots and pits).ย  It’s a polyester yarn and very difficult to describe.ย  This is what it looks like close up …

It doesn’t feel scratchy, although it looks as if it should be.ย  I never feel like I’ve washed my back properly with a brush, so I’m hoping that this might do a better job.

It was incredibly difficult to crochet with as you can’t see your stitches and the roughish texture causes the yarn to stick rather than pull through smoothly.ย  I always love a challenge and this certainly has had its challenging moments ๐Ÿค”

Things have been a bit quiet on the crochet front.ย  I’ve had issues with my right thumb in the very cold weather and I think perhaps it may be the beginning of arthritis.ย  What a pain (literally) that will be if it is.ย  Although I’m left hand dominant for most things, I crochet right handed.

Now that the weather is slowly warming up I’m hoping to get back into the hooks and yarn, although the next three months will be very heavily travel and choir-related and may restrict my crochet time.

Firstly, we’re having a camping week away down south in Albany and on our way home we’ll be joining a group of Albany motorbike and classic car enthusiasts on a fund raising ride for Hawthorne House, Albany’s Alzheimer’s Respite Centre.ย  It’s actually called a Raiser Ride and we joined them last year on their weekend ride from Albany to Ravensthorpe and return and were one of only four classic cars amongst a very large number of motor bikes.ย  The ride raised $4000 for children’s mental health last year and we’re hoping to raise even more on this year’s ride from Albany to Bridgetown and return (we won’t go back to Albany … instead we’ll keep heading north for home at the end of the weekend).

Then, after a short break back home, we’ll head south again, this time to Dunsborough for the SongFest where my choir, Born to Sing, will be performing over the weekend.ย  Always a lot of fun and very uplifting.ย  Gordon’s not into choir singing, so he’ll probably organise his kayak and fishing gear and perhaps his golf clubs as the caravan park we stay at is reasonably close to both the beach and the golf course.

That takes us into November and then the choir will be in full rehearsal mode for the Carols by Candlelight on the Perth foreshore in mid-December in aid of Variety – The Children’s Charity.

Goodness, that’s completely written off the rest of 2018 ๐Ÿ˜ฒ Where did this year go?ย  Everyone I speak with says the same thing … this year has flown by.

The night is getting on, so time to sign off.ย  Wishing you sunshine, happiness and health ๐Ÿ˜Ž

  1. Kay … I’m totally puffed out just reading about this schedule of happenings! lol.

The back scrub thingy is a groovy looking thingy, and, when I first viewed it, I thought it was a nifty idea you’d come up with for a scarf that the wind couldn’t blow away! I looked at the photo and could see how, if you put your hands through those loops, it would hold around your wrists, and then, you’d keep your scarf on if your hands were busy holding your shopping bags or such. It would even work if you’d crossed the scarf across your body!

But then … I got to reading and felt like a proper numpty when I realised that it was a back scrubby thing! LOLOLOL!
You have to admit though … my idea is really rather a nifty one! ๐Ÿ˜€

Love the colours. Hope it works for you.

    1. Oh Cobs, that is a nifty idea … you’ve got my mind thinking on how I could work that into a new design ๐Ÿค”

On the schedule of happenings … I’m also a bit puffed out just trying to get my head around everything that I need to do … and wondering why I always get myself into this sort of predicament!

I’ve only just realised that because we’ll be away during crucial choir rehearsal time I will need to travel to another choir on a Tuesday nights for extra practice and that’s about an hour’s drive each way, as well as my usual Thursday nights and Saturday mornings.

On top of that I also offered to make jam gift boxes to be auctioned on the Raiser Run. I have the Lemon Butter, Strawberry and Seville Orange Marmalade done but still pondering on what other variety to make as I plan to have four different flavours in each box.

I don’t know about you, but I do prefer to be busy as it keeps me organised (sort of!) but sometimes I tend to take on a tad too much๐Ÿ™€

Thanks for the kind words on the back scrubby thingy … I love the colours as they’re bright and happy. Being a “pink” girl I would have loved to do it in pink but they don’t have the yarn in that colour ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

It’s a lovely, sunny day here and the birds and the bees are having a lovely time singing and pollinating our fruit trees. Wishing you sunshine in your day and hoping that you’re not feeling as poorly as you have been.
Love and hugs … Kay xxx

      1. Bless your beautiful heart, Kay.

Being busy … and doing as much as you do . . . I really wouldn’t expect anything else, for you seem to thrive on busy. You have a nature which leans itself to giving of yourself for the joy it supplies to other people, and that’s ‘you’. It’s how you were made up. And the way you were made up suits you to a T.

May God bless and keep you exactly as you are, for we all love who you are, exactly as you are.
